Obtaining a birth registration certificate in Bangladesh was previously a time-consuming process. There was no digital registration method for birth certificates until recently. The government, on the other hand, has made it imperative to register for a birth certificate online through a designated webpage from 2021. Even so, the procedure isn’t totally automated yet. The process is as follows:
Step 1: Go to Birth Registration Website and select ‘New Application’.
Step 2: Select either permanent or current address for verification.
Step 3: Fill out the application form with relevant information.
Step 4: Submit the application form and print it out.
Step 5: Attach the relevant documents with the application form and submit them to the ward office.
Step 6: Obtain birth certificate within 15 (Fifteen) days.
The same procedure should be followed for children born overseas to Bangladeshi parents. However, rather than a verification address, the application must select the Bangladeshi consulate.
