Taxation is the primary source of revenue for every nation. The present government, which is working to digitalize the country, has pursued the Electronic Tax Identification Number (E-TIN) to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of tax collection. In this context, the Taxpayer’s Identification Number (TIN) Certificate is a vital document for Bangladeshi individuals, organizations, and businesses.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is the only entity in Bangladesh that can issue a Tax Identification Number (TIN). One can apply for a Tax Identification Number manually or electronically through the National Board of Revenue (NBR). Tax Identification Number (TIN) can be obtained within one working day.
Required documents:
For individual (Adult):
Tax payer’s name
Valid National Identity Card Number
Date of Birth (according to National Identity Card)
For individual (Minor):
- Tax payer’s name
- Name and TIN of the Guardian
- Tax payer’s photo (Passport size, soft copy)
For Foreigners and Bangladeshis without NID:
- Passport number and passport issuance date
- Visa number and Visa issuance date
- Tax payer’s photo (Passport size, soft copy)
- Company name (as per registration), registration number, and date
For firm (registered): Firm name (as per register), register number, and date
For firm (unregistered): TIN and names of the partners of the firm
For others (AOP, HUF Local Authority, AJP): TIN of the authorized person or the person in charge.
