The copyright registration process in Bangladesh is regulated by the Copyright Office Bangladesh. The procedure is as follows:
Step 1: Submit the government fee of BDT 1000/- through Bangladesh Bank or Sonali Bank in the code “1-3437-0000-1841” or payment through SureCash.
Step 2: Get the application form from the online portal. Then fill up the form with relevant information.
Step 3: Fill out the application form online and submit it. The portal will create a digital application reference number when the form is submitted successfully. The reference number, as well as the filed application, must be printed.
Step 4: After that, within 15 (fifteen) days of the successful online submission, the printed copy of the application, along with any relevant documents, must be sent to the Copyright Office.
Step 5: The Registrar will serve notice of the concerned application to everyone who has any interest in the subject matter of that application and wait for 30 (thirty) days to receive any objections or complaints from the concerned parties after receiving the physical copies of the application and the relevant documents.
Step 6: The Registrar will issue a Copyright Certificate if there are no objections or complaints against the application.
Required Documents:
- Treasury challan
- A completed application form
- Copies of the work to be registered
- Transfer deed of work in stamp paper (if applicable)
- Legal paper (Okalat nama) (if a lawyer submits the application form on behalf of the author)
- Memorandum of Association, Trade License, TIN Certificate (if in the name of the company).
