Sports Law:

Sports law is a well-developed set of principles that encompasses aspects of labour law, contract law, criminal law, public law, administrative law, antitrust law, competition law, intellectual property rights law, tort law, media law, company law, and human rights law, among other things. These regulations encompass public order, narcotics, security, punitive actions, conduct, and wider questions, as well as connections to control or supervise in a trade, anti-competitive trade, defamation and confidentiality rights, match rigging, and the commercial exploitation of sports.

Sports Law Authorities in Bangladesh:

The National Sports Council of Bangladesh (NSCB), which is an autonomous government organisation under the Ministry of Youth and Sports and was created by the National Sports Council Act 1974, is affiliated with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). However, the 1974 Act has been repealed by the National Sports Council Act 2018 (জাতীয় ক্রীড়া পরিষদ আইন ২০১৮).

Apart from this Act there are also other acts, rules, regulations and policies including, জাতীয় ক্রীড়া নীতি ১৯৯৮, বঙ্গবন্ধু ক্রীড়াসেবী কল্যাণ ফাউন্ডেশন আইন ২০১১, বাংলাদেশ ক্রীড়া শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান আইন ২০২০ and National Youth Policy 2017, among others.

Recent significant developments in Bangladesh’s sports arena have seen extraordinary levels of investment in private clubs and the expansion of tournaments forming across the country. Therefore, sports law encompasses a variety of professional areas. Commercial contracts, employment contracts, litigation, regulatory, Sponsorship Contract, and tax difficulties are all part of it.
